Hail, and well met!
My name is Ashley, but I write underneath Seren J.H Wolfe as well.
My favourite genres to write are fantasy-adventure, science fiction, the occult and religious, romance, and poetry, all with mature overtones. I’ve been writing for twenty years, and have no plans to stop, now or ever! In my work, you can almost always find resilience, love in all forms, a dark twist, metaphors, and magic.
In my free time, I enjoy playing video games, many of which have influenced my writing style over the years. I mention this in particular because sometimes it goes unrecognized that a good story can come from anywhere, not just books.
In Mass Effect, one person does everything in their power (which is sometimes nonexistent) to stop their home and the galaxy from being enslaved or wiped out. You learn about lost loves and families, form deep bonds with your squad mates, and no matter how many times you play it, you’re never ready for the end.
In Dragon Age, you’re either trying to save your country from being overrun by monsters from the depths of hell, attempting to keep your city from falling into absolute chaos and terror, or sealing a hole in the sky before ancient evil walks free. Your companions, your romances, the ordinary and extraordinary folk that you meet along your journey, the judgements you must pass as a leader: all these things direct you towards one goal, but getting there is what decides your fate.
In Cyberpunk 2077, the ghost of a warrior inhabits your mind until you die – you decide if you work together to save both of them, or push them away in favour of your own goals. You’re faced with your own mortality, and your actions either make or break your entire existence in the City of Dreams.
You never know what is going to present you with a good story until you take a look, the same as picking up a book for the first time. As a storyteller, I am passionate about ensuring a tale is told well enough that those who read it can connect with it on a personal level, even a small one.
I currently live in beautiful British Columbia with my wonderful husband, who is a structural draftsman and one hell of a Dungeon Master. I am a practicing witch of Hades and Skadi, who has long learned that the night isn’t as scary as it seems.
