xx. build ’em up, break ’em down

the raven followed at a distance some days,
others she was by her side, still others absent
she felt more in tune with her rhythms than Ysolde was
                   and sometimes she envied her

she was the one who had suggested the desert
the wildly different tropics from their seafaring home
rain was a commodity here, you couldn’t just wash away your worries

you had to break them down,
       crumble them up like clay
toss them across the desert and hope
they rolled away like the tumbleweeds

Prompt: Breakable
