xvi. tonguetied

      the tilt of her chin while they went fishing
        reminded her of the slopes of the alps
              her smile warmer than any tropical beach

           the bedside tables they had carved together
   tulsi leaves lending its perseverance to their room
                   claiming it was aesthetics only
          (every good witch knows it helps with fevers)

                     the bed framed her like monet’s lilies
               she was the soft petals to its angular position
                   Ysolde wondered if her bed had always been so sharp
     or if her girl was just that pliable
