the little queen.

the light heart of cotton is edged by the strength of leather,
and reinforced with the lash of silk and steel;
velvet and soft, plated under with gold and crimson,
a crest of dignity and loyalty, pride.

her crown is a gift, a statement, bold.
commander of many, a servant to none;
but the gift from a King is no small gesture,
and she wears it with his love, a promise in a royal vesture.

and some claim to know her, while others merely pretend
but her King, oh
he had mapped her every twist, turn, sigh, and bend.
and to her he gave freedom, in the way they both knew,
from their hands rose high, the most viscous of truths.
